CONSULTATION & TRAINING
CONSULTATION
Building Bridges provides consultation to social workers, residential care teams, and other child-care professionals within health, education, and social work services.
Consultation provides an opportunity for professionals to discuss a particular child or family and to gain a psychologically informed perspective. It can help in understanding issues, such as attachment needs, child development, mental health issues, contact issues and placement planning, and can help to access appropriate interventions or signposting to relevant services. Examples include: pre-proceeding consultation to social workers and consultation to education staff around managing a particular child’s needs in the classroom environment.
This may involve a one-to-one meeting, or may be attended by a number of staff, be a short-term intervention or part of a rolling programme.
